Delhi CM's ED custody extended till April 1 in liquor policy case

New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was further remanded to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody until April 1st by a Delhi Court on Thursday in connection with the money laundering case pertaining to the alleged liquor policy scam. On March 21st evening, he was taken into custody.
The decision was issued by Special CBI judge Kaveri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Courts following Kejriwal's appearance in court after the conclusion of his six-day ED detention. Kejriwal was not granted any temporary relief by the Delhi High Court yesterday; instead, notice was issued.
The current chief minister was providing "evasive replies" during questioning, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju said the court, and the agency needed to confront him in front of some others who had been called in from Goa. ED therefore requested an additional seven days in prison, Live Law reported.
"He doesn't get exonerated if he is a CM. There is no different standards for a CM. Right to arrest a CM is no different from an ordinary man."
