Delhi HC adjourns Gulfisha Fatima's habeas corpus plea hearingtext_fields
A bench of Justices Navin Chawla and Asha Menon of the Delhi High Court on Friday adjourned the hearing of the habeas corpus plea of student-activist Gulfisha Fatima, charged with the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and judicial custody, to July 5. The court cited the large number of cases listed before it.
The High Court had directed Gulfisha's counsel to file a rejoinder to the police's response and listed the case for hearing on June 18 on the last day of hearing. The Delhi Police had opposed Gulfisha'a habeas corpus plea saying that it was not maintainable but a "blatant abuse of the process of law and deserves to be dismissed with cost."
Fathima was arrested on April 11 in relation to the Delhi riots conspiracy case and is in judicial custody, which she has claimed to be "illegal and invalid", since.
