Renowned Indian YouTuber and social commentator, Dhruv Rathee, has expanded his digital footprint by launching YouTube channels in five Indian regional languages.

Widely recognized for his incisive analysis and explainer videos in Hindi, Rathee's decision to diversify into Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, and Marathi demonstrates a strategic move to engage with a broader audience across India.

The move, unveiled on April 18th, aims to bridge linguistic barriers, bringing his insightful content to a wider audience base.

The inaugural release on these channels includes the translated version of Rathee's viral video titled "Is India becoming a dictatorship?" Originally published in February on his Hindi channel, the video scrutinized various socio-political issues, including the Chandigarh mayoral election and the farmers' protest, while raising concerns about the state of democracy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

Despite garnering over 24 million views, the video faced intense criticism from supporters of the ruling BJP, who labelled Rathee a non-resident due to his residence in Germany. Responding to the backlash, Rathee urged viewers to focus on the substance of the message rather than engaging in personal attacks, emphasizing the importance of critical thinking and civic engagement in safeguarding democracy.
