Dreams to make Delhi global centre of education: Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Aravind Kejriwal said on Friday that his dream is to make the national capital a centre of education for the globe. He was attending an Excellence in Education Award event where he felicitated several students in the region, Asian News International reported.
Addressing the event, the Delhi CM said that he met a woman on a flight a few days before, who told him that she was an awardee of the excellence award. He briefed how proud the woman was about the award and how it pleased him.
Kejriwal said that the UT has been presenting the award for teachers since 2015, and people view it as a big media.
He said that he was distributing the awards to the students he witnessed confidence and happiness on their faces. Those who didn’t receive the award this year will receive it in the coming years, he said positively.
The education gap between private and public schools reduced in the last seven to eight years, and the excellence award is the convergence of both educational systems, Kejriwal said. He added that now there is no discrimination between private and public schools.
The CM further said that 1,800 Municipal Corporation of Delhi schools are there, and their conditions are not good, but the government will fix them soon.
The state government intends to make Delhi the centre of education for the whole world. The teachers and principals of Delhi schools, private and public alike, have worked hard to improve equality in education here, resulting in good reports, he said and added that the Union territory would succeed for sure.
