Father forced to carry teen daughter’s body on bike after hospital denies ambulance in MP

Bhopal: In a distressing incident in Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol, a father was compelled to transport the lifeless body of his 13-year-old daughter on a motorcycle after allegedly being denied an ambulance by a government hospital.
Laxman Singh, a resident of Kota village situated approximately 70 km from Shahdol, recounted that his daughter, Madhuri, succumbed to sickle cell anaemia on Monday night. Despite requesting transportation assistance from the hospital, he was informed that vehicles were only available for distances within 15 km.
Struggling with limited financial resources, he resorted to carrying his daughter's body on a motorcycle towards their village. However, when he was hardly about 20 km away from his village, he was intercepted by Shahdol Collector Vandana Vaidya, who happened to be en route to another village.
Upon learning about the heart-wrenching circumstances, Vaidya immediately took action. She promptly arranged a vehicle to transport the deceased daughter's body. Singh's village. This allowed him to carry out the final rites for his daughter at the village.
Understanding the financial strain faced by the Singh family, the Shahdol Collector also extended some financial assistance. In addition, she promptly ordered an inquiry into the incident, seeking to determine the reasons behind the hospital's alleged denial of an ambulance.
