Cricketer-turned-MLA Gautam Gambhir has alleged that he has been receiving threats via email which claim to be from ISIS Kashmir. The BJP MLA in Delhi has approached the Dekhi Police to register a complaint in this regard and security has been scaled up at his residence in the capital.

Shweta Chauhan, DCP central, told ANI that Gambhir has approached the Delhi Police in this regard. "Gautam Gambhir has received death threats from 'ISIS Kashmir' through e-mail. Security has been beefed up outside Gambhir's residence," Chauhan added. In his complaint letter to the police, Gambhir provided details of the threatening emails and said that the missives had threatened to kill him and his family.

"This is further to our telecommunication, we have received an email from ISIS Kashmir on the official email ID of Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday evening. The mail states death threat to MP and his family. I therefore request you to look into the matter and make adequate security arrangement," stated a letter sent to DCP central district written by Gaurav Arora, PS to Gautam Gambhir.

Last Friday, Gambhir had lashed out at Punjab Congress leader Navjot Singh Siddhu for addressing Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan as "elder brother", stating that it was shameful in the light of India's 70-year battle with Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. The MLA had also said that Siddhu should send his own children to face reality on the borders before making such remarks.
