Goa minister resigns; expected to join Congress ahead of assembly polls

Alleging that the party is sidelining small party workers, Goa Ports Minister Michael Lobo resigned from the cabinet on Monday. He also tendered his resignation as an MLA soon after.

The BJP in Goa has grown so big that it is now sidelining small party workers, Lobo said.

"It has been quite a good, long journey with BJP. BJP workers are unhappy with the party. Maybe I am wrong also. I have seen with my own eyes, heard it with my own ears," Lobo said.

"Party workers from other constituencies have told me that the party has become so big that it does not look at small workers. It brings new leaders and hoists them on us... We are grassroots level workers. We feel neglected, sidelined," Lobo added.

Though the former minister said that he hasn't made up his mind on joining any other political party thus far, sources close to the Congress said that Lobo is expected to join them soon.
