BJP-joining Hardik Patel promises to work as PM Modi's 'small soldier'

Ahmadabad: Hardik Patel's joining of BJP has lately been on the cards after his desertion of the Congress on May 18, accusing its leadership of having no interest in the real issues of Gujarat.
Now the firebrand leader of Patidar agitation has finally decided to work what he tweeted as a "small soldier" in the service of nation under Prime Minister Modi.
Quitting the Congress earlier, he said the party benefited in the 2017 Assembly polls immensely from the Patidar quota agitation he had spearheaded.
Hardik joined Congress ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections to become its working president for Gujarat before long falling out with the state leadership.
He complained that although he was made the working president of the party he was not given any party responsibilities, not so much an opportunity to hold a press conference in the last three years.
At the time of quitting the Congress, 28-year-old Patel didn't say he would join BJP and speculations were rife that he had Aam Aadmi Party in the options.
Despite Patel kept mum over joining either of the parties, not long afterwards he started praising BJP for abrogating Article 370 and Ram Mandir issue.
Ending any speculation that could possibly come in the way of his joining BJP, Patel attacked AAP Governent in Punjab over singer-turned-politician Moose Wala's killing after the state government's withdrawal of security for him.
On Tuesday, Gujarat BJP media convener Yagnesh Dave said that Hardik Patel would join the BJP with his supporters in the presence of the party state president C R Patil.
Hardik emerged in 2015 hogging the national media leading the Patidar quota agitation against the BJP government, which made him a favourite of the Congress.
Now that he joins BJP, the party has the last laugh as it could bag one of its fierce attackers.
However, one BJP leader reportedly said considering Hardik's "past behaviour" towards the party, few in the party would be happy with him and heartily welcome him.
