Bengaluru: Hindutva extremist Puneeth Kerehalli has been charged by police in Bengaluru for assaulting a 30-year-old man with a stun gun.

The latest charge comes days after he was arrested for the murder of cattle transporter Idrees Pasha in Karnataka’s Ramanagara, according to The News Minute.

On March 20, Puneeth Kerehalli and three others assaulted Aleemulla Baig while he was transporting cattle on Hosur Road.

Puneeth now faces charges of assault, wrongful restraint, and criminal intimidation based on the complaint lodged by Aleemulla.

The FIR said Aleemulla was intercepted by Puneeth and his three associates — Santhosh, Chethan and Deepak— on NICE Road while transporting cattle to Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu.

Puneeth and his associates beat up Rafiq, the driver of the vehicle, and allegedly went on assaulting Aleemulla and used a stun gun to give him electric shocks, according to the report.

Aleemulla was allegedly tortured for almost an hour and then Puneeth made a live video of it on social media.

The video showed Puneeth inflicting pain with a stun gun on Aleemulla who was lying in hammock inside the truck.

Later Puneeth reportedly lodged a complaint against Aleemulla under the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Cattle Preservation Act, 2020.

Puneeth is now in the custody of Sathanur police in connection with a murder case.

Aleemulla's case emerged after Puneeth and his associates allegedly killed cattle transporter Idrees Pasha.

Pasha’s body had burn marks, which raised suspicions of a stun gun being used. Puneeth was arrested from Rajasthan.
