Hyderabad: An Uber driver in Hyderabad is alleged to have been attacked by miscreants who forced the Muslim cab driver to chant 'Jair Shri Ram' on Sunday.

A News Minute report said that the Uber driver, Lateefuddin, was on his way to pick up a passenger when a group of people, who were on their bikes chased him down, attacked and stole Rs 6000 from his pocket, besides damaging his vehicle.

Lateefuddin was said to have questioned the men when the accused parked near his vehicle on a road near Tolichowki around 3.45 am and had beaten hard on his car. The men, who recognised Lateefuddin's religion through his accent, forced him to open the car door asking him to chant 'Jair Shri Ram'.

The terrified Lateefuddin fled the scene upon which the men on their bikes chased him, who lost his way while on a frantic drive to escape the assailants, stopped at a dead end of a road, Lateefuddin.

Then the accused men smashed his vehicle with heavy stones and broke the side windows of the car. They also dragged Lateefuddin out of the vehicle and beat him urging him to chant 'Jai Sri Ram'.

A local resident who witnessed the attack informed Amjed Ullah Khan of Majlis Bachao Tehreek that the attackers fled when they saw a few people approaching.
