The income tax portal still has glitches and is being fixed, says Infosys. IT firm Infosys has acknowledged that some users are still experiencing technical difficulties when accessing the income tax portal designed for the government. The IT major assured that it is working to streamline the end-user experience. The portal was launched in June and it had received heavy criticism for glitches that were hampering user experience. The company said that it is progressively addressing the concerns of users and acknowledges the difficulties some users continue to experience. Infosys said on Thursday that the usage of the portal has steadily increased over the last few weeks and over three crore taxpayers have successfully completed transactions.

The Bengaluru-based tech firm added that it has directly engaged with over 1,200 taxpayers to better understand the problems. "The portal is facilitating over 2.5 lakh returns filing on a daily basis and ITR 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 are now available for filing. A majority of the statutory forms have also been made available online. Several critical statutory forms like 15G, 15H, EQ1, 10A, 10E, 10IE, DTVSV, 15CA, 15CB, 35 as well as TDS returns are being filed in large numbers," said Infosys. The IT major further stated that a team of chartered accountants and IT professionals is committed to making rapid progress. The firm reported having dedicated over 750 resources to the project. "Infosys takes pride in partnering with the government of India and continues to work closely with various departments to accelerate the digital evolution of the country's technology capabilities," said the statement. Infosys received the contract to develop the tax filing system in 2019. After the site went live, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman expressed "deep disappointment" over persisting glitches. The company was given till September 15 to fix the issues.
