Anti-viral drug Remdesivir gets no-duty entry into India

NEW DELHI: As India currently facing a vaccine shortage, the country has removed import duty on remdesivir, an anti-viral drug that is currently used to treat Covid-19 patients.

The Ministry of Finance removed the duty on import of pharmaceutical ingredients used to manufacture the drug in a notification issued on late Tuesday night.

The ready-to-use remdesivir injection have also been exempted from import duties

"This notification shall remain in force up to and inclusive of the 31st October 2021," the ministry said.
