India reports 2,67,334 new COVID cases, 4529 new deaths in last 24 hours

New Delhi: India's daily Covid cases seems to be falling for the third consecutive day as the country reported a total of 2,67,334 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

However, the daily death is still on the rise, with 4,329 deaths being reported yesterday.

According to the data from the Health Ministry, a total of 3,89,851 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, with 2,19,86,363 being cured from Covid till date.

While Maharashtra continues to record the highest deaths so far, surpassing Karnataka for largest number of cases being reported last week.

The Health Ministry said that a total of 18,58,09,302 people have been vaccinated so far in the country, including 13,12,155 who were administered vaccines in the last 24 hours.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 32,03,01,177 samples have been tested up to May 18 for Covid-19. Of these 20,08,296 samples were tested on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a record number of 2,99,327 tests were conducted by Uttar Pradesh yesterday reporting a positivity rate of 2.45% positivity rate in the samples tested. 2,79,581 tests were conducted on 17th May, said official reports.
