India will be the official 'Country of Honour' at the upcoming 'Marche' Du Film', organised alongside the Cannes Film Festival, said Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur.

This is the first time the Marche du Film has an official country of honour. I&B minister added that the choice is significant in the background that India and France are marking 75 years of their diplomatic ties.

India will be the focus country on the opening night of Marche Du Films at the Majestic Beach. Indian cinema, culture, and heritage will be in focus. Indian Choir bands along with folk music and fireworks will add an Indian flavour to the event.

The World Premiere of the movie 'Rocketry: The Nambi Effect' produced by R. Madhavan is also slated at the Cannes Film Festival. The biographical drama based on the life of former scientist and aerospace engineer of ISRO Nambi Narayan will be shown at the Palais des Festivals of the market screening on May 19.

A cinema hall 'Olympia Screen' will be dedicated to Indian films on May 22 for screening unreleased movies. At the Cannes Classic section Cinema de la plage, India's celebration of the centenary of Satyajit Ray will carry on withPratidwandi.

India also has the opportunity to pitch five selected movies at the

'Goes to Cannes Section'. These movies are Baghjan by Jaicheng Zxai Dohutia (Assamese, Moran), Bailadila by Shailendra Sahu (Hindi, Chhattisgarhi), Ek Jagah Apni by Ektara Collective (Hindi), Follower by Harshad Nalawade (Marathi, Kannada, Hindi), and Shivamma by Jai Shankar (Kannada).

At the India Pavilion, a feature will be launched to brand India as the content hub of the World. Minister Thakur said the pavilion will showcase Indian cinema across the linguistic, cultural, and regional diversities of the country.

The pavilion will be inaugurated on May 18 and it will serve as a networking platform for delegates from across the global community. The goal is to establish international partnerships in film shooting, distribution, production, script development, technology, promoting film sales and syndication.
