Six LeT terrorists have been killed in a clash with Indian security forces in the Rajouri jungle near Poonch. The Indian army has been engaged in a continuous series of skirmishes with the terrorists since last week which has cost the lives of 9 soldiers.

Following the deaths of the nine soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Bipin Rawat visited the area on October 16 to hold discussions with the local commanders handling the ongoing counter-terrorist operations. The Army had changed its tactics to "wait out" the terrorists instead of engaging them actively. This includes picking them off as they visit nearby villages for supplies.

Yesterday, army officials had claimed that the terrorists were being armed and trained by Pakistan with weapons left behind by the US in Afghanistan. As many as 10 terrorists are believed to have infiltrated the Poonch sector and have been cordoned off by the army who are hopeful that they will eliminate the threat soon.
