Indian flag painted on face: woman denied entry at Golden Temple

New Delhi: A woman was allegedly denied entry into the Amrtisar's Golden Temple because of painting her face with the Indian flag, NDTV reported.

NDTV has sourced a video clip that was posted on Twitter but issued a caution that it could not independently verify the video, which had gone viral on social media.

In the video, a woman and a man could be heard confronting a guard of the shrine who could be seen talking too. After the girl was denied entry, she asked, "Is this not India?" to which the guard replied that "Its Punjab". She repeatedly asked the guard whether it was India, and the guard aggressively replied negatively.

At the end of the video, the guard even tries to snatch the woman's phone, using which she was shooting the whole scene.

Meanwhile, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, the administrating authority of the Golden Temple, apologised for the guard's behaviour. But it claimed that the painting on the woman's face was not an Indian flag since it didn't carry the Ashok Chakra.

The administration told ANI that the temple is a Sikh shrine and every religious place has its own decorum. They welcomed everyone, it said and apologised for the guard's behaviour.

However, adding that the flag on the woman's face was not Ashoka Chakra, it said that it could have been a political flag, the administrations said.
