Kozhikode: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Kerala Ameer P Mujeeb Rehman on Thursday urged mosques to conduct special prayers during Friday prayers for the Palestinian people who are suffering greatly due to the genocide by Israel and America.

He said that Israel inflicts extreme brutality on Palestinians. Even children and old people queuing for food are bombed and killed. Many thousands of women and children have already become martyrs. Seriously injured and crippled are many times more and became orphans and destitute. The news coming out of Gaza is heartbreaking, he said.

He urged that everyone who has a conscience should come forward against these atrocities. He said that we should pray for the end of the sufferings of our brothers in Palestine and for the success of the liberation struggle.

Meanwhile, in Gaza, two more children succumbed to malnutrition and dehydration in Gaza. The health ministry on Wednesday stated that the latest deaths were at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. This makes the number of children's deaths rise above 6. The situation in Gaza intensified calls for urgent intervention from global organizations to prevent further casualties, which the UN warned an "imminent" famine. "The death toll from the famine among children rose to six martyrs as a result of dehydration and malnutrition", said the health ministry spokesman Ashraf Al-Qudra.

Aid agencies warn of an impending famine in northern Gaza, attributing critical shortages to Israel's alleged obstruction of supplies. The last humanitarian convoy reached Gaza over a month ago.

A UN official stated on Tuesday that Israel is deliberately causing starvation among Gaza's population, asserting that Israel should be held accountable for war crimes and genocide.

Michael Fakhri, the special rapporteur on the right to food, told The Guardian that "here is no reason to intentionally block the passage of humanitarian aid or intentionally obliterate small-scale fishing vessels, greenhouses and orchards in Gaza – other than to deny people access to food".
