New Delhi: A 27-year-old kabaddi player from Delhi has accused her coach of rape, extortion of money, and blackmail by threatening to leak her private pictures. A case was registered at the Baba Haridas Nagar police station in West Delhi against the coach, Joginder.

The complainant said she had been preparing for kabaddi competitions in Hirankudna near Mundka in West Delhi since 2012. In 2015, her coach "made sexual relation with her without her consent". Three years later, he forced her to give him a part of her winnings from competitions. The woman alleged that she transferred Rs 43.5 lakh to his bank account, reported NDTV.

After she got married in 2021, the accused continued to blackmail her using photographs. Delhi police registered a case against Joginder and charged him with rape and criminal intimidation. An investigation was initiated and the victim's statement is being recorded in court.

This is happening a few weeks after India's top wrestlers made sexual misconduct and harassment allegations against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Several athletes from across the country and different fields came forward with similar accusations.
