New Delhi: Sharmistha Mukherjee, daughter of former President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday, termed Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest as Karma catching up with him for his ‘'irresponsible, baseless allegations’ against former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

Sharmistha Mukherjee added that Kejriwal nevertheless claiming to have ‘trunk loads’ of evidence against Dikshit did not present any such to the public, news agency ANI reported.

Accusing Kejriwal and Anna Hazare of trumping up allegations against Dikshit, she ended her X post saying 'Karma catches up!', meaning the AAP chief is facing consequence of his past actions.

‘He & Anna Hazare gang were responsible for making most irresponsible, baseless & wild allegations against Congress including Sheila Dikshit ji saying he had 'trunk loads' of evidence against her. No one has seen the 'trunk' so far. Karma catches up!’ her post on X read.

Sharmistha Mukherjee was in the news earlier for her criticism of the Congress and its leadership, and later she said she was ‘viciously trolled by congress supporters’ for her criticism.

‘Ever since the book on my father came out. I had taken a lot from his diaries and certain observations about Rahul Gandhi, he (Pranab) said that he (Rahul) is yet to mature politically and he doesn't seem to be seriously frequently absent. There is a lot of praise about Congress, but everything was ignored and Congress social media and some of the Congress leaders also had been speaking against ... Congress social media had been viciously trolling me,’ ANI quoted Mukherjee as saying.

She reportedly told an interview on the sidelines of Jaipur Literature she was still a Congress person and the party, she said, ‘still has a lot of importance to play in national politics. But the Congress should look beyond the leadership of the Gandhi-Nehru family.’

Sharmistha Mukherjee urged the party to decide who should be projected as the party’s face after the party lost two Lok Sabha polls with Rahul Gandhi as the party’s face.
