Karnataka BJP workers arrested for illegal cow transportation
text_fieldsMangalore: Acting upon a tip-off, the Dharmasthala Police unfolded an illegal cattle transportation involving the BJP workers who have been arrested from Kanyadi, Dharmasthala in southern Karnataka.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Pramod Salian from Morthaje in Navoor village, Pushparaj from Olagadde in Belthangady taluk, Chennakeshava from Arkalgud in Kasaba hobli, Hassan district, and Sandeep Hirebelaguli from Holenarsipura. All four were known for their active participation in the BJP.
The police nabbed the transporters near the renowned Ram Mandir at Kanyadi, Dharmasthala, where it was revealed that the accused were involved in the unauthorized transportation of cattle from Ujire to Dharmasthala. The illegal activity was carried out using two pickup vehicles and another vehicle, which were seized by the police during the operation.
Upon inspection, law enforcement officials discovered eight cattle, comprising six cows and two male calves, being transported in the vehicles. The confiscated livestock, with an estimated value of Rs 65,000, along with the seized vehicles valued at approximately Rs 7 lakh, have been taken as evidence.
Local authorities have filed a case against the arrested individuals, and a thorough investigation is underway to uncover further details surrounding the incident. The Dharmasthala Police are working diligently to ascertain the motive behind the illegal transportation and to ensure that all parties involved are held accountable for their actions.
