Rudraprayag: Heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand has put a stop to the Kedarnath Yatra once again. The state has recorded heavy downpours from Sonprayag onwards and the trip has been halted to ensure the safety of the pilgrims.

The Rudraprayag district administration is wary of accidents in dangerous weather, reported ANI.

The India Meteorological Department has predicted isolated heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand on July 10 and July 13. The weather office tweeted: "Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Jammu & Kashmir on 09th and 10th; Himachal Pradesh on 10th, 12th and 13th; and over Uttarakhand on 9th, 10th, and 13th July 2022".

The district was once closed on June 30 because the debris and stones kept falling from the hill. Traffic on Badrinath highway was blocked by several boulders due to overnight rainfall on June 25. Similarly, on May 17, the traffic on the Badrinath route was disrupted due to boulders falling from the hill.

According to the June 18 data of the Badri-Kedar Temple Committee, at least 7 lakh 27 thousand pilgrims visited Kedarnath since May 6.
