The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Sunday clarified that seventy-three bodies have been retrieved, and 47 are still missing after the landslide in the coastal regions of Maharashtra.

S N Pradhan, the Director-General (DG) of the federal force, tweeted the updates of the landslide operations being conducted in Raigad, Ratnagiri and Satara districts on Sunday afternoon. As per the data, the highest number of bodies were retrieved from the worst-hit Taliye village under the Mahad tehsil of Raigad. Forty-four bodies have been retrieved in the operations in the village.

Heavy rains triggered the landslides in these regions, and the forces deployed 34 teams for relief and rescue operations. The teams are presently operating in landslide-affected Taliye in Raigad, Porase in Ratnagiri and Mirgaon, Ambeghar and Dhokawale in Satara district.

The death toll due to the rains and subsequent landslides in Pune and Konkan divisions stood at 112 on Saturday, including 52 in the coastal Raigad district. 1,35,313 people have been moved to safety, including 78,111 in Sangli and 40,882 in Kolhapur. Though the rains subsided on Saturday, the Krishna river in Sangli and Panchganga in Kolhapur are flooded.
