Dhanbad: In yet another fire occurrence in Dhanbad, a multi-story residential building was completely consumed by flames, leaving at least 14 people dead and numerous others with burn injuries. Police have confirmed that 14 people died, including 10 women and 3 girls.

Up to 20 fire tenders were brought in, and it took them several hours to put out the fire. Notably, on January 28, Saturday, a fire that started in the storeroom of the Arti Memorial nursing home in Dhanbad resulted in the asphyxiation deaths of five people, including a doctor couple named Dr Vikash Hazra and Dr Prema Hazra, the New Indian Express reported.

“Fourteen people have died so far while 24 others, who have received serious burn injuries, have been admitted to hospital,” said a police official requesting anonymity. "A cylinder blast is said to be the reason behind the incident," he added.

According to eyewitness reports, the Ashirwad Apartment fire started on the second floor in the evening and quickly spread to the third and fourth floors.

They claimed that because of the high and intense flames, it was difficult to identify the dead victims.

Along with the officer in charge of the Bank More Police Station, PK Singh, who has been admitted to a nearby nursing facility, some of the firemen have also sustained burn injuries.

In addition to offering his sympathies to the families of those who lost loved ones in the accident, Chief Minister Hemant Soren stated that he is personally overseeing the district administration's war-like rescue efforts.
