As high-stake UP assembly elections is to be held months ahead, The BJP has marked a notable victory in local body elections in Uttar Pradesh by winning 67 out of 75 seats. Samajwadi Party workers held a street protest yesterday and alleged that the election was rigged.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that the glorious victory of BJP in the Uttar Pradesh Panchayat elections is a blessing given by the people for development, public service, and rule of law. He credited Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his policies for the win. He acknowledged the "tireless hard work" of party workers as well.

The state's BJP chief SwatantraDev Singh said that the party will win the 2022 assembly elections as well. However, election analysts say that the local body elections are not likely to indicate the outcome of assembly elections that are set to be held next year.
