Sagar/ Madhya Pradesh: The situation remains tense in the village in Madhya Pradesh’s Saga district where a Dalit teens was beaten to death and his mother stripped naked the other day, according to NDTV.

The teen’s family performed last rites, after the district collector offered them help under government schemes and updated them on the arrests in the case.

The family was attacked by furious mob over sexual harassment case filed by the victim’s sister in 2019, the report said citing the police.

A total of nine people have been arrested in the case and three will face Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes Act.

The victim’s sister claimed the family was attacked after the some people pressured her to withdraw the case.

‘They thrashed him a lot. He couldn't survive. Hume beparda kar diya. I was stripped. Then the cops arrived and I was handed a towel. I stood there in a towel until they got me a saree,’ said the teen’s mother was quoted as saying.

She said that the mob vandalized their home without leaving any household items intact including destroying the roof as well.

Afterwards they set about searching her other two sons in another house

The victim's aunt narrated how the mob ‘barged into her house’ too, threatening her husband and children.

It all began in 2019 when the victim’s sister filed a case against four men accusing them of threatening and beating her.

The attack on the Dalit family sparked political row in Madhya Pradesh after the Congress and Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party targeted the ruling BJP.

The government said ‘prompt action’ will be taken against those involved in the crime.

Meanwhile, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge alleged that ‘the BJP has made Madhya Pradesh a laboratory of Dalit atrocities.’
