In a touching display of compassion transcending religious boundaries, Yakub Bee, a Muslim woman and administrator of an old-age home, performed the last rites of a Hindu woman, Boggu Chandrakala. Chandrakala, 72, found solace in Yakub Bee's care after losing her husband and having no family to turn to.

Yakub Bee and her husband Chou Miya, residents of Raigiri, Yadadri district, in Telangana, have been pillars of social service for over a decade, running the Sahrudaya Anadha Vrudhashram. This home has been a sanctuary for the elderly for the past 15 years, offering shelter and support to those who have been abandoned or have no familial support.

Chandrakala, originally from Korutla, found herself alone after her husband's demise and sought refuge in the ashram earlier this year. Despite differences in faith, Yakub Bee and her husband embraced Chandrakala as family, providing her with care and companionship until her passing on March 23 due to illness.

In a gesture that exemplifies the true essence of humanity, Yakub Bee performed the last rites for Chandrakala according to Hindu traditions, honouring her life and offering her a dignified farewell. Their act of kindness has resonated deeply, with local social worker G. Maninder Reddy praising their selfless dedication to serving society's most vulnerable.
