New Delhi: A news anchor with Zee TV was arrested today on charges of running a misleading video involving Rahul Gandhi.

There unfolded a drama at Rohit Ranjan's home as Chhattisgarh police tried to arrest him alongside the Ghaziabad police stepped in to take him away as he was wanted by both teams of police in the same case, according to NDTV.

The anchor tried to reach out to the help of Uttar Pradesh police saying that the local police were not alerted about the arrest.

The Chhattisgarh police would not listen to him saying there was a court's arrest warrant on him.

The Ghaziabad police then took him away, preventing his arrest by the Chhattisgarh team. He is currently in the custody of the UP police, facing relatively lighter charges, NDTV reported.

Cases were filed against the TV anchor in both Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh following a misleading video on his show.

Rohit Ranjan found himself in the mess after playing a statement by Rahul Gandhi over an attack on the leader's Wayanad office, which allegedly turned out to be a comment about the Udaipur tailor's killers.

Rahul Gandhi reportedly called the attackers of his office "children" saying that they acted in an irresponsible way, adding that they are kids and forgive them.

The anchor allegedly ran the video, according to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, making it seem like Rahul Gandhi was saying murderers of Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur were kids and be forgiven.

A day later the channel appologised for the mistake with Ranjan saying that linking of Rahul Gandhi's statement to the Udaipur murder was a human error.
