New Delhi: Congress need not become like BJP to defeat the saffron party, Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar said. He said that he believes in the welfare of all parties and not favouring a particular religion, reports India Today.

Speaking at the 'Agenda Aaj Tak', he said, "Keechad se keechad ko saaf nahi kiya jata hai... BJP ko harane ke liye humko BJP jaisa ho jane ki zarurat nahi hai...," India Today quoted. It is translated as "Mud cannot be cleared with mud... we do not need to be like the BJP to defeat BJP," India Today reports.

About the party's agendas in Karnataka, the youth leader promised that Congress would introduce guarantees in its manifesto and that it was all about bringing change.

He also commented on Congress' defeat i recently ended assembly elections in the north. He acknowledged the party's defeat and said that there was no difference between the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi. Party's failure is Gandhi's failure, too, he said.

He said that Congress had brought a template where the citizens pay taxes and get facilities in return, but the same had vanished. The party is bringing a guarantee and an alternative in its manifesto, he said, adding that even if the party lost, its agenda stays.

He said that while the BJP discusses unnecessary issues while edging away from real ones, Congress do the other way around. He also said that he is positive that Congress will win the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Congress leader Pramod Tiwari and Party leader Pawan Khera accompanied Kumar at the event.
