Not feeling guilty: hate speech, rape threat accused says after bail

Sitapur: A local court has granted bail to the man arrested for hate speech and rape threat here in Uttar Pradesh. However, the arrestee Bajrang Muni Das of Maharishi Shri Laxman Das Udasi Ashram announced after his release from jail that he is ready to go to jail a thousand times and face any attacks but will keep safeguarding his religion and women, PTI reported.

Das, who was granted bail by District judge Sanjai Kumar on Saturday, said that he is not feeling any guilt for what he said. He was released from the district jail on Sunday morning.

In the case against him, he was accused of making hate speech against Muslims on April 2, and a video had come up on social media regarding the same. In the 2-min video featuring Das, shot outside a mosque, he could be heard using the term "jihadi", referring to the Muslim community. He threatened that if any man of Muslim harassed a Hindu girl, he himself would rape their woman. But another video of him apologising for his statement also surfaced hours later after the police filed an FIR against him. He was arrested on April 13 after a complaint filed by one Ramnaresh.
