Other jury members at IFFI support Israeli Filmmaker Nadav Lapid

New Delhi: Three jurors of Goa film festival came out supporting Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid who had called "The Kashmir Files" a "vulgar" and "propaganda" movie, causing widespread protest.
Now a statement by jury members Jinko Gotoh, Pascale Chavance and Javier Angulo Barturen claimed that the entire jury knew and agreed with what Lapid said as a jury chief, according to NDTV.
This runs counter to Indian filmmaker Sudipto Sen's claim that Lapid responded to the movie "in his personal capacity".
After the controversy flared up, Lapid said he had commented on the "cinematic manipulations", not making light of the tragedy of Kashmir Pandits.
He reported said that their tragedy "deserves a serious movie".
The statement by three jurors claimed that Nadav Lapid made the statement on behalf of the jury members.
'We were all of disturbed and shocked by the 15th film, The Kashmir Files, that felt to us like a vulgar propaganda movie, inappropriate for an artistic competitive section of such a prestigious film festival.' We stand by his statement," the statement reportedly said.
It added that jurors were not taking a political stance but an artistic statement and expressed sadness at the festival platform being used for politics.
The jurors who came out questioning "The Kashmir Files" include Jinko Gotoh Oscar-nominated American producer; ; Javier A Barturen, a documentary filmmaker and journalist from France and Pascale Chavance, a film editor from France.
