PDP founder member Muzaffar Baig quits the party over seat fights

PDP founder member Muzaffar Hussain Baig has quit the party following differences over seat-sharing in the forthcoming District Development Council (DCC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

He informed PDP patron Mehbooba Mufti of his decision to leave the party with which he has been associated since its inception in 1998. However, he did not respond to media reports about leaving the party.

According to party sources, he was upset with the distribution of seats in the People's Alliance for Gupta Declaration (PAGD), which was hastily integrated by the mainstream political parties, including the National Conference, the PDP, the People's Conference and the CP(I)M.

Muzaffar Baig, who was in an on-off relationship with the Muftis, had dropped enough hints of being part of the new front earlier.
