Police return to Kejriwal’s residence to issue notice in MLA ‘poaching case’

New Delhi: A team from the Delhi Police Crime Branch returned to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's house in Civil Lines today to serve him with a notice in connection with claims that the BJP was giving bribes to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) filed the complaint in this incident.

When officials from the Chief Minister's office arrived to accept the notice, CMO sources reported that the police officials refused to hand it over and had brought media crews with them. “The police’s aim is to defame the CM, not to serve the notice,” the sources added, Indian Express reported.

A senior Crime Branch official refuted the reports, stating that the notice would be handed only to the CM in person, not to any of his office workers. In addition to providing him with the notification, the officer stated that some preliminary questioning would be done.

Kejriwal, who is also the AAP's national coordinator, previously claimed that the BJP offered Rs 25 crore apiece to seven of his MLAs in a purported attempt to "buy them" into the party.

According to police sources, the notice supposedly asks Kejriwal to provide evidence in support of the charges. According to an officer, the team is scheduled to return to his residence on Saturday to personally serve him with the notice.
