Jalbandha: In a significant election pitch in Chhattisgarh, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra unveiled a series of promises, including the waiver of loans for Self-Help Groups (SHGs), the introduction of subsidised cooking gas cylinders through a new scheme, and free medical treatment for victims of road accidents if her party secures victory in the polls.

Speaking at a rally held in Jalbandha, within the Khairagarh assembly segment of the state, Priyanka made several commitments to the electorate.

She announced plans to upgrade approximately 6,000 state-run higher secondary and high schools to Swami Atmanand English and Hindi medium schools. She also pledged that free electricity of up to 200 units would be provided if the Congress party is elected.

She elaborated on her proposals, stating, "If re-elected in Chhattisgarh, Congress will launch Mahtari Nyay Yojana for women to provide Rs 500 subsidy per gas cylinder."

In a move aimed at alleviating financial burdens, she also disclosed plans to waive the loans of Self Help Groups and those availed by women under the Saksham Yojna.

Furthermore, she underlined her commitment to public health, announcing the provision of free treatment for victims of road accidents under the Chief Minister's Special Health Assistance Scheme. In a nod to the agricultural sector, she mentioned the purchase of "Tivara" (a type of lentil) from farmers at the support price.

Priyanka Gandhi concluded her address by critiquing the BJP and posing a question to the electorate, saying, "Will you vote for those who mislead you in the name of religion and only bring problems in your lives, or vote for the party that works to ensure your development and welfare?"
