Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reportedly received a death threat from Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, prompting heightened security measures.

Sources revealed that Pannun, an American-Canadian citizen previously targeted in an alleged assassination attempt orchestrated by Nikhil Gupta, issued a call for gangsters to attack Mann on Republic Day, January 26.

Bhagwant Mann already enjoys Z+ category security cover, comprising a detachment of over 50 armed personnel, in response to previous death threats. Punjab's top cop, Gaurav Yadav, emphasised the state police force's "zero tolerance policy" against gangsters and pledged "strict action" against any individuals involved in plotting an assassination attempt against Mann.

Earlier, in March, Mann's daughter Seerat Kaur, residing in the US, faced threats amid the pursuit of another Khalistani terrorist, Amritpal Singh. Last week, Pannun reportedly issued threats against the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, and an attack on the new Parliament building in Delhi.

Pannun's recent threats align with the backdrop of the US government's claim that he was the target of a murder plot masterminded by Nikhil Gupta and an unnamed Indian government official, identified as CC-1.
