Chandigarh : In a historic meeting, Aam Aadmi Party leader Bhagwant Mann met Punjab governor Banwarilal Purohit and staked claims to form the state's new government today.

AAP leader reached Raj Bhawan around 10:30 am.

Mr Mann advised the new Aam Aadmi Party MLAs to spend as much time as possible in their constituencies, and not seek cabinet positions.

"I appeal to all of you not to be arrogant. Work even for those who have not voted for you. You are the MLAs of the Punjabis. They have elected the government," he added.

After winning 92 seats out of the 117 members of the Assembly, the AAP registered a huge victory in the elections.

In the elections, the Delhi-based party tied Punjab's 60-year record for the most seats won by a single party, which was contested by giants from various parties, including incumbent Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Congress state chief Navjot Singh Sidhu,
