Rahul Gandhi needs to study Indian history: Amit Shah mocks

Jaipur: Targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over Congress's ongoing 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday that Rahul is required to study the country's history, PTI reported.

Pointing out to a parliament speech by Rahul, Shah said that the former has gone out on 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' wearing a foreign brand T-shirt and a jersey.

"I want to remind Rahul baba and Congressmen about his speech given in Parliament. Rahul Baba had said India is not a nation at all. Rahul Baba, in which book have you read this? This is the nation for which lakhs and lakhs of people have sacrificed their lives," Shah said, addressing BJP booth-level workers in Rajasthan's Jodhpur.

He said, "Rahul Gandhi has gone to connect Bharat, but I think that he needs to study Indian history."

According to Shah, Congress cannot work for development but vote bank politics. "It can only work for appeasement and vote bank politics," Shah claimed.

BJP attacking Rahul, raising his Rs 41,000-plus T-Shirt from British luxury brand Burberry, went on for a while, and Congress retorted with an inevitable reminder, tweeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "10 lakh suit".

"Hey... are you scared? Seeing the crowd gathered in Bharat Jodo Yatra. Talk about the issue. Speak on unemployment and inflation. If we have to discuss the clothes, then Modi ji's suit of 10 lakhs and glasses of 1.5 lakhs should be discussed. Do the BJP want to discuss this?" NDTV quoted Congress.

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra warned BJP not to cross limits.

She tweeted, "Seriously advise BJP to not cross line & comment on Opposition's personal clothes & belongings. Remember, if we start doing the same with watches, pens, shoes, rings & clothes BJP MPs wear, you'll rue the day you started this game."
