Rahul Gandhi reaches out to Nitish Kumar following Kharge issue

New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday evening tried to reach out to Bihar Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar to ward off a costly rift in the INDIA bloc.

Rahul Gandhi’s overture comes as the alliance of 28 parties is threatening to collapse after the bombshell proposal for putting congress chief Kharge as the group’s frontman.

However, Rahul Gandhi could not speak to Janata Dal( United) chief as he was attending a meeting and the two leader may talk today, NDTV reported citing sources.

The agenda for talk is believed to be the rumoured differences over not considering Nitish Kumar as the possible convener for the group and/or prime ministerial candidate.

At the meeting, Nitish Kumar had difference with INDIA leaders on the key subject of renaming the group as ‘Bharat’, which Sonia Gandhi quickly rejected.

Kumar got angry with Rastriya Janatal Dal leader Manoj Jha as the latter translated his speech from Hindi to Tamil for DMK leaders, according to the report.

It is reported that Nitish Kumar attacked the Congress for its poor performance in the assembly polls.

Nitish Kumar’s displeasure stems particularly from Mamata Banerjee’s proposing of Kharge as the leader of the group, which Kejriwal quickly backed.

Though he has publicly denied having ambition for the top job, he is believed to be an aspirant.

It is more than evident after his party projected him as the leader with ‘all the qualities and experience that a PM should have’.
