Railway to convert pantry cars into 3rd AC coaches in 300 trains

New Delhi: Indian Railways are mulling converting pantry cars into AC 3 coaches after they stopped serving food due to Covid outbreak, said a report.

The move is for, the report says, ensuring there's no wastage of resources.

The pantry cars of as many as 300 trains will be converted into AC three-tier coaches.

Pantry car is an onboard facility on trains to prepare and serve food to the passengers.

They ceased services over health concerns due to Covid pandemic.
