The Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued a notice to the state government asking its response on the alleged incidents of communal clashes in Ujjain, Indore and Mandsaur during the fundraising drive for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The bench of Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq and Justice Sujoy Paul was hearing a plea filed by Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh to enforce the Supreme Court directions in cases of mob violence, communal violence and mob lynching.

The court has given the additional advocate general for state Pushyamitra Bhargav six weeks to respond to the notice.

The Petitioner has highlighted that these donations are to be voluntary and the members of minority community should not be coerced or threatened to give money.

"In the guise of this pious work, some organizations are targeting members of the minority community. of Madhya Pradesh in order to show their dominance and breach communal harmony in the State of Madhya Pradesh," said Digvijaya Singh.

He has further requested the court to issue directions on the conduct of such rallies by any religious organization or religious sect in State of Madhya Pradesh to ensure protectection of public peace and harmony during such events in future.
