Real Madrid needed the victory in the La Liga title race and to grab important points as their rivals Barcelona and Athletico Madrid earned important points earlier last week. Zinedine Zidane's side had complete control over the game and the clear victory of 2-0 against Valencia on Sunday at Alfredo di Stefano Stadium.

Karim Benzeema and Toni Kroos scored for Real Madrid in the first half.In the 12th minute Benzema gave the Madrid lead with a low shot from outside area. In the 42 minute of the Kroos made a brilliant strike to score the second one. Left back Ferland Mendy hitted the net in the 61st minute of the match and was decided as an offside. Valencia was completely weak and surrendered earlier in the game. Valencia was the worst in terms of performance, weakly attempted to return the goal and the team remains on the bottom line of point table with other three behind.This third victory in a row makes the little race interesting and gave hope to Real Madrid. Real Madrid is second on the point table five points behind Athletico Madrid and two game in hand.

Real Madrid played this game with seven of its players on the bench including captain Sergio Ramos, Eden Hazard, Fede Valverde, Marcelo, Rodrygo, Eder Militao and Alvaro Odriozola.vEven in the absence, first XI remains brilliantly strong.

This victory maintained the uneaten record at home to 13 league matches, since a 3-2 defeat in 2008.
