New Delhi: Former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot has left the state congress leadership in trouble with a day-long fast seeking ‘action on corruption’.

Sachin Pilot has demanded the Congress government led by Ashok Gehlot to act on cases allegedly pending against the previous Vasundhara Raje-led BJP government.

The Opposition leaders are watching how the conflict in the congress will play out, whether it will lead to a split in the grand old party.

Rajasthan BJP leader Rajendra Rathore said Pilot’s fasting will be the last nail in the coffin of the ruling Congress in the state.

‘Sachin Pilot is giving an open challenge to the high command. His day-long fast will be the last nail in the coffin of the Congress government. The Congress has lost its hold across the country’ news agency ANI quoted Rathore as saying.

Alongside Pilot’s fasting, the Congress high command faced Ashok Gehlot’s faction boycotting a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting on September 25, Rathore said.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi was among those came out supporting Pilot, saying that Congress stance on corruption shows that the party is not serious about it.

The Hyderabad MP told news agency PTI that both the Congress and the BJP encouraged corruption, adding that they are two sides of the same coin.

‘That’s why you see that an ex-deputy chief minister is going to protest againt his own government. What message goes out with this? The message that goes out is that the Congress or BJP are not serious about (fighting) corruption,’ he reportedly said.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party supported Pilot’s protest while calling the Gehlot government as “the most corrupt and useless”.

AAP is planning to focus more the state in a bid to wedge between the Congress and the BJP in the upcoming polls.
