New Delhi: Jailed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi health minister, Satyendar Jain has got interim relief from the Supreme Court on medical grounds after being admitted to hospital following his reported fainting inside the prison bathroom.

Jain has been incarcerated in Tihar Jail since May of the previous year after being apprehended on charges of money laundering.

The decision to grant him interim bail comes shortly after he was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Lok Nayak Hospital. This hospitalization occurred following an incident where Jain slipped inside the prison bathroom.

The apex court has instructed Jain to refrain from making any statements regarding the matter. He has been granted a six-week period of interim bail, taking into consideration his medical condition. Jain's health deteriorated to the point where he required intensive medical attention, resulting in his transfer to the ICU.

It is worth noting that this is the second time within a week that Jain has required hospitalization. Earlier, he was examined at Safdarjung Hospital for a spinal injury sustained from a previous fall in the jail's bathroom, as confirmed by jail officials.

The arrest of Satyendar Jain by the Enforcement Directorate on charges of money laundering in May of the previous year led to his prolonged stay in Tihar Jail.

The recent developments surrounding his health condition have prompted the Supreme Court to grant him temporary relief on medical grounds, allowing him to receive necessary medical care outside the confines of the prison.
