SDPI alleges Govt lets Police not to take action against Sangh for disturbing communal harmony in Srirangapatna

Mysuru: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) alleged that the Sangha Parivar is vitiating the communal harmony of the Srirangapatna in Mysuru by its demand for permission to conduct pooja at the Jamia Masjid.

The SDPI's Karnataka state president Abdul Majeed said that the Sangh Parivar has been indulged in disrupting the Hindu-Muslim communal harmony in Srirangapatna with its nefarious work under the pretext of Hanuman Jayanti for political gains.

The SDPI also called the incidents where the Sangh Parivar tried to barge into the mosque and deface the green flag hoisted on a Muslim house a blatant attempt from the Sangh to disturb the atmosphere and violate the Places of Worship Act.

The BJP-run state government in Karnataka has also been accused by the SDPI of not letting the police take action against the culprits.

Majeed said instead of taking action against the members of the Sangh, the police officials who arrested a Sangh activist for defacing the green flag have got an FIR registered against them following the Sangh's demand.

"This has created a situation where police are reluctant to act," he said in a statement.

Mandya superintendent of police Yatish N has directed an FIR to be registered against the circle inspector and other police officers.
