Secularism will remain intact until Hindus are majority: Gujarat Min

Gandhinagar: The concept and talk about Constitution, Secularism and the Law will only remain in the country as long as Hindus remain in the majority and once the community loses its prominence and become a minority, all these talks will vanish in the thin air, said Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel.

Patel made this remark during an idol installation ceremony at the Bharat Mata Mandir in Gandhinagar on Friday, when Gujarat Minister of State for Home Pradeepsinh Jadeja, top VHP and RSS leaders were present.

Patel said that the day Hindus become a minority in the country, no one will be there to talk about the Constitution, Secularism and the Law, all these concepts and talking about it will be buried. Speaking further, Patel also acknowledged lakhs of deshhakts among Muslims and Christian communities, referring to people serving the Indian Armed Forces.

Responding to the writ petition that challenged the amendment made in the anti-conversion law, the Gujarat Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Act, 202, the Minister asked why a certain section demanding the squashing of the law while it ensures a platform where Hindu girls marry Hindus, Muslim girls marry Muslims, Christian girls marry Christians, Sikh girls marry Sikhs.

The law did not restrict to any particular religion but applies to all who indulge in fraudulent marriage to convert girls to another religion, he further said.

People should support and congratulate the BJP-ruled Gujarat government for bringing the law for the unity of the state and the protection of girls of every religion, Patel added.
