New Delhi: A Spanish woman, still reeling from the horror of having been gang-raped in Jharkhand’s Dumka, said in an instagram post that she‘’would not wish’ what happened to her on anyone.

The woman and her partner were 300 km away from the state capital Ranchi en route to Bihar and then Nepal when the incident occurred, NDTV reported.

They were halting for the night at a makeshift tent when they were robbed and beaten up before the woman was gang-raped by seven men.

‘Something has happened to us that we would not wish on anyone. Seven men have raped me,’ woman shared in the post.

NDTV reported that the woman has bruises all over her face.

‘They have beaten us and robbed us although not many things because what they wanted was to rape me,’ she added.

Three people have been arrested and search for others is underway even as a special investigation team (SIT) is tasked to probe the incident.

The survivor has been admitted to a hospital, police said.

A patrolling team of Hansdiha police, according to Dumka Superintendent of Police Pitambar Singh Kherwar, found the Spanish couple around 11 pm on Friday on the roadside, PTI reported.

‘The patrolling team sensed that something had happened to them. Since they were speaking in Spanish, the police could not understand what they were saying. However, the policemen brought them to a local hospital assuming they needed some treatment,’ he was quoted as saying.

It is reported that the Spanish couple told doctors about sexual assault.

The officer reportedly said that they have detained some people who, during investigation, admitted to their involvement in the crime.

‘ We have formed a team and raids are being conducted to nab the other accused. We are also taking the help of a forensic team and the CID in this regard,’ he reportedly said.

The state minister Mithilesh Thakur responded to the incident, saying: ‘It is unfortunate. Those involved in the crime will not be spared and stringent action will be taken against them.’
