Lucknow: In the Shahi Idgah mosque complex issue, the Allahabad High Court allowed an application seeking a commission to survey the building. More details will be available when the court order comes out, The Indian Express reported.

Hindu petitioners claim that the mosque was built on the birthplace of Lord Krishna.

TIE reports that the mosque was built in Mathura under the orders of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb adjacent to the Krishna Janmasthal, demolishing a temple. Krishna Janmasthal is the place where the god is believed to have been born.

There are a dozen cases filed by different petitioners in courts in Mathura, in which their common plea is to remove the mosque from the 13.77-acre complex. The mosque shares the area with Katra Keshav Dev Temple.

Advocate Vishnu Kumar Jain told the media on Thursday afternoon that about the advocate commissioner, the modalities and the strength of the committee will be decided on December 18.

He said that they demanded that there be lots of signs and symbols in the Shahi Idgah mosque, and to the factual position, an actual advocate commissioner is required.
