New Delhi: Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha from the Upper House.

The suspension came after Home Minister Amit Shah in Rajya Sabha alleged that Chadha forged the signatures of five MPs in a motion related to the Delhi services bill.

The five MPs S Phangnon Konyak, Narhari Amin, and Sudhanshu Trivedi of BJP, M Thambidurai of AIADMK, and Sasmit Patra of BJD said that their names were included in the proposal without their consent.

Announcing Chadha’s suspension, Dhankhar said, "Taking holistic view of the gravity of his misdemeanor, violation of rules, defined attitude and inappropriate conduct, I find it expedite invoking Rule 266 read along with Rule 256 and suspend Raghav Chadha from the service of the Council, till the Council has the benefit of the report by the Committee of Privileges."

Meanwhile, AAP accused BJP of running propaganda against Chadha.

"The Modi government's intention is to finish the membership of Raghav Chadha like Rahul Gandhi," AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said at a press conference on Thursday.
