Mysuru: Police are looking for miscreants who vandalised a statue of Jesus Christ at a church in Karnataka’s Mysuru.

The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday evening in Periyapatna town in Mysuru district, when the church priest was away.

Police said that the unidentified miscreants were behind vandalising the statue kept at the altar, India Today reported.

However, no damage was caused to the main statue of Jesus kept in the church.

Officials reportedly said that the money in the donation box was also missing.

"We have formed a team to nab the culprits. We are also looking for available CCTV footage with nearby cameras. It looks like theft as a money box and other such things have been taken away. Further probe is underway," news agency ANI reported quoting Seema Latkar, Superintendent of Police, Mysuru.
