Washington: Recent study showed that immunity for COVID-19 can stay in an affected person's body for almost 5 months. The study was conducted by an Indian–origin researcher in USA.

The research was conducted in the University of Arizona. The researchers came to this conclusion after observing antibodies of 6000 COVID-19 affected persons. The antibody can stay in an affected person's body for 5 to 7 months said Deeptha Bhatacharya, associate professor of Arizona University.

Meanwhile, Michael D. Dakke, Senior Vice President of the University of Arizona, said it was not yet clear whether the antibody can protect the body from further virus infections. Most of the previous studies had stated a maximum of 100 days for antibody to remain in an affected person's body.
