New Delhi: A court in Delhi granted bail to the alleged creators of the controversial apps " Sulli Deals" and " Bulli Bai" on Monday.

The accused Aumkareshwar Thakur of Sulli Deal and Niraj Bishnoi of Bulli Bai app were given bail on the grounds that the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) results and replies from Intermediaries were still awaited, IANS reported.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police K.P.S. Malhotra the court relied up on the evidence against the accused, and no shot comings in probe was pointed out.

The court according to the official considered that the accused were first time offenders and continued incarceration would be detrimental to their overall well being.

Delhi police arrested Thakur, 25, hailing from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on January 8.

The derogatory app surfaced in July 2021 maliciously displayed photos of Muslim women for "auction".

The Delhi Police's Cyber Crime Unit had registered an FIR under section 354-A (Sexual harassment and punishment for sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code on July 8, the report said.

"Bulli Bai" came to fore in January 2022 after a Delhi-based woman journalist filed police complaint against it.

She said some unidentified group of people on a mobile application had targeted her. The app was hosted on Github.

"Bulli Bai" displayed pictures of women, including journalists, social workers, students and famous personalities, tagged with derogatory content. The app listed hundreds of Muslim women for "auction".

Police on January 6 arrested Niraj Bishnoi for allegedly creating the app.

During interrogation, it emerged that he used to interact with various virtual identities on social media and used to engage in group discussions.

The first time Bishnoj came to know about " Sulli Deals" , reportedly, was in July 2021 when in a group where he was active a member shared the details of the app.

After Bishnoi's disclosure and technical analysis, Thakur was identified and traced to Indore. Later on January 8, a team of IFSO, Delhi Police Special Cell went to Indore and arrested the accused.

Thakur was examined and his technical gadgets were subjected to preliminary analysis.

During the investigation, he confessed to having created the Sulli Deal app on GitHub, the report said.
